What is horror?
I had a conversation the other day with someone who complained that people classify certain foreign horror movies improperly - suggesting that some foreign "horror" movies aren't really horror movies at all. While I understand his point of view, and agree with it somewhat, I see why people do that. First, some foreign movies, especially Asian movies, come from a point of view and are so far off the typical Americans scope of reasoning. How does one really categorize "Battle Royale", "Battlefield Baseball", or any one of the movie in the "Vengeance" series? While these movies might not scare the daylights out of everyone, these movies do contain an amount of violence and fake blood and body parts to trump anything in an American grade B gore movie. So, it is with this frame of mind, we will review these and other movies in the future that might not meet the typical person's idea of "horror". It is our intentions to turn people on to some really fine cinema that many are unaware of. Enjoy!!!!
